Backend Lead

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Backend Lead who can guide a team of backend engineers, ensure code quality, and contribute hands-on to backend development. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in PHP and MongoDB and has worked on microservices-based applications. You will play a key role in managing backend development processes and delivering reliable, scalable backend services.

Roles & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor backend engineers, ensuring strong coding standards and development practices.

• Conduct code reviews and provide guidance on efficient backend development.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure timely and high-quality feature delivery.

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain backend services using PHP (Laravel/CodeIgniter).

• Work on building microservices and ensure smooth communication between services.

• Manage data operations and integrations involving MongoDB and MySQL (optional).

• Contribute to complex modules, API development, and backend features.

Performance, Scalability & Security

• Improve backend performance using caching, queues, and query optimization.

• Ensure secure API development, including authentication, access control, and rate-limiting.

• Monitor system performance and ensure stability across backend services.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to support releases.

• Convert business requirements into clear technical tasks for the team.

• Help troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth backend delivery.

Skills Required: 

• You must have 6+ years of backend development experience, primarily with PHP and MongoDB.

• Strong experience working with microservices.

• Familiarity with Node.js and MySQL is an added advantage.

• Strong understanding of backend development, APIs, and system workflows.

• Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
